As summer approaches and temperatures rise, many homes and business will turn on their air conditioners at the same time. The extra electricity required for air conditioners, combined with the increased use of general everyday appliances, puts enormous stress on the electricity grid which we call ‘peak demand’.

Energex is currently offering some great incentives to reward homes and businesses that help to reduce peak demand. One such incentive is a cash-back reward of up to $400 by installing PeakSmart air-conditioning.

What is PeakSmart Air-conditioning?

A PeakSmart air-conditioner means that the unit can be installed with a small signal device which is able to receive notification from Energex when peak demand levels are high. When this occurs, the air conditioner will automatically reduce its electricity consumption and will continue to operate similarly to the economy setting. This not only helps reduce electricity demand on the grid but also saves you money on your electricity bill.

Each household or business is eligible to claim up to three cash-back rewards per premises. The reward is dependent on the cooling capacity of your air-conditioner.

• Cooling capacity Less than 4kW – $100 cash back
• 4kW to 10kW – $200 cash back
• 10kW or more – $400 cash back
