A New Year’s Kick Start for Energy Efficiency
The 1st of January 2018 welcomes the start of the New Year as well as the start of Queensland Government’s new Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate.
The rebate is an initiative of the Affordable Energy Plan which is committed to helping Queenslander’s improve their household’s energy efficiency by providing a cash rebate on approved energy efficient appliances.
Rebates Available
Rebates are limited to 1 per household and will apply to purchases on or after 1 January 2018 of the following new household appliances:
- $200 for a washing machine with a minimum 4 star energy rating
- $250 for a refrigerator with a minimum 4 star energy rating
- $300 for an air conditioner* with a minimum 4 star energy rating
*Freestanding, portable air conditioners and evaporative air conditioners do not qualify for the rebate
If you purchase a PeakSmart air conditioner, you may also be eligible for additional rebates through Energex’s Positive PeakSmart Payback Program.
Choosing the Right Appliance
The Energy Rating website may be used as a guide to help you determine the energy efficiency of an appliance*.
*This should only be used as a guide to check that an appliance meets the energy star ratings required for the rebate. Rebate eligibility is checked as part of the application process and rebates are not guaranteed.

Applying for the Rebate
